The world has moved on considerably over the decades and no doubt will continue to evolve. There has been primarily 3 ages since man was born. These include:
1. Farming - the agricultural age

2. Industrial age

3. The information age. The age of the internet.

The internet has come a long way since the 90s. There are those of us who has made it happen, and those that just watched it happen.

So what is the big attraction in the information age? Primarily People are looking for information. Turning to the internet is a great way to do this. To some, the internet is about ‘Googling’ something. Google has become the internets most used site and has become a household brand. It is virally spreading all the time.

What is interesting, it is 400 times more likely that people will do or buy something from someone they know and trust - word and mouth marketing. Communication methods have change. Once, and was certainly the case for most of my life, getting to know or to learn about someone was by physically meeting them. Today, in the information age, people get to know people through a virtual world – texts on the mobile, social media and other forms of communication through the internat. We communicate in short burst of exchanged information. Relationships are formed without ever meeting anyone. The virtual world can be make believe, exaggerated or embellished to firstly promote attraction and secondly to make that connection.

So if looking to build an internet based home business, you to do not have to leave the confides of your own home to build relationships with people from all over the world. You just need to know how. So where can you start? Start with what you feel comfortable with and hence good at?

So with social media comes Facebook. It is now being said this is used more than Google! So if you are looking to market a product or service, and wanting to make that connection with people then Facebook is a great place to start. Here are 8 areas of consideration when using Facebook:

1.      Have a presence. Have a good photograph of yourself along with an interesting bio. Try to be as real as possible.

2.      Become more memorable. Send out posts to attract attention and make the post memorable. You want to start connecting with people so write posts to encourage dialogue. Avoid quotes. People would rather have a two way conversation as if you were face to face. Become memorable, then people will come back to you if done in an authentic manner.

3.      Be more interested than interesting. This is a form of prospecting. Ensure you engage with private conversation and a fan page on Facebook is a great way to achieve this.

4.      Develop friendship of internet. When someone posts on your wall. Return the favour.

5.      Personal training blog. Learn to provide useful information. You can as a starter use information from others, but this needs to be put into your own words. In time you will generate your own information. If you live what you are preaching then it will be real. In other words make sure you are walking the talk. Learn to be an influence. You must do or have done what you are talking about. Don’t tell someone something if there is no intent to follow up – backing out of a commitment.

6.      Always answer people’s questions. Also thank people. This is making a statement about you.

7.      Keep your wall clean.

8.      Don’t feel you can’t remove people. Like with anything, water the seeds, but kill the weeds. The analogy applies to keeping your wall and postings clean.

So why is Facebook a good place to be? With over 5,000,000,000 actually using it then why not? Invest in the time, become valuable and Facebook will work for in marketing a business or service for free.

We can all aspire to achieve better things. It may be a case of changing direction and doing something you have never done, but always dreamt of. I’m helping people to think positively about the future and how best use their time. I believe that people can find a way within to pursue an idea and a vision. We all have the ability to take control of our lives, but many just don’t know it or how.
